eBooks Resale Rights Explained – Part 2
eBooks Resale Rights - The Difference Between Master Resale Rights (MRR) Standard Resale Rights (SRR) Giveaway Rights and Branding Rights
In the first part of this article we took a look at Private Label Rights and explained how this type of material enables you to edit the document as you wish and also lets you claim authorship of the finished product.
In the second part of this article we will look at four other different “ebooks resale rights” licenses that an ebook may come with, how these differ and which is the best option for you.
The four types of “ebooks resale rights” that ebook’s or other material such as articles usually come with are:
Master Resale Rights (MRR) , Standard Resale Rights (SRR), Giveaway Rights and Branding Rights
Master Resale Rights (MRR) means that you not only have the right to resell the product and keep all of the profit but you are also able to pass this right onto your customers.
There may however be certain conditions or restrictions that accompany the product .
Examples of this may include; minimum pricing to avoid devaluing the ebook, or you may not be able to include it in membership sites, you may not be able to list the product on auction sites etc.
On the other hand some MRR licenses will let you sell or give it away however you like.
Standard Resale Rights (SRR) mean that you have the right to sell the ebook and keep the profits but you cannot pass this right onto your customers. Any customer that purchases the product from you is an end buyer only and cannot resell it.
Giveaway Rights mean that can distribute the ebook for free if you wish.
Branding Rights mean that, although you do not have Private Label Rights, you can in some way alter certain parts of the content or links within the ebook. eBook’s that are sold this way usually come in the form of a PDF and include software that allows you to do this. This will usually mean that you can change some of the affiliate links in the product or include a link back to your website for example.
Generally speaking, eBook’s with MRR or branding rights will be more valuable or expensive than those with SRR or giveaway rights because you are able to sell MRR with an added purchase incentive to your customers and potentially make more profit from these products.
However, there is no guarantee that the content of the ebook will be any higher quality content contained just because it is a MRR or brandable product.
So, what should you consider when deciding to which ebook license type to purchase?
The main factor to take into consideration is who your customers will be.
If you are targeting people who will be interested in buying the ebook solely for the information it contains then you do not need to worry about obtaining MRR for the book.
However it is definitely worth considering buying an ebook with branding rights if you are selling to the “end user” of the ebook. This is because if you are able to brand the ebook with your affiliate links then you may make future commissions from related products that are “upsold” in the ebook.
If you intend to resell the product to people who would be intending to then resell the book themselves (such as other ebook sellers or internet marketers) then you would need to offer them MRR and possibly giveaway rights to interest them in buying the ebook. Many ebook sellers and internet marketers giveaway free ebook’s in exchange for an email address as a list building tool or as a bonus to another product they are selling.
If your ebook is of high enough quality and comes with promotional tools such as graphics/sales page then they may be prepared to pay for this ebook even if they intend to give it away for free themselves.
In the last article we talked about PLR (private label rights).PLR rights may be sold with either MRR or SRR and may or may not come with some of the restrictions that can accompany these licenses that we talked about earlier.
It is essential that you read the license that accompanies the ebook you purchase and follow the rules of the license. Failure to do so can be a breach of copyright laws, which are a serious offence.
It is also important to pass on any relevant conditions of the license to your customers.
eBooks Resale Rights may sound complicated but the licenses that accompany the products are usually very clear and simple to understand.
Resell Rights can be a very profitable way to make an online income and by taking a little time to understand the license types correctly from the outset you will be able to make the right decisions about the products to source for your ebooks resale business.
In the next article we will be looking at places where you can find resell rights products.
